Two pedestrians struck and killed on Loop 375

Two people are dead after being struck while walking along northbound Loop 375 just after 2 a.m.

They two were said to be walking approximately a quarter of a mile north of Loop 375 and Spur 601.

Police say 26-year Lulu Sida who was driving a 2004 Buick was driving northbound on Loop 375 and was involved in a minor traffic collision with the guardrail. Three people were in the car at the time but were not injured.

They were able to flag down a passing tow truck and ask for help. While the tow truck was hooking up Sida’s vehicle 25-year old Jesse Gutierrez and 22-year old Adrian Ramirez began to argue with each other. The argument led to both men standing in the middle of the left lane of traffic. A 41-year old Hispanic man in a 2014 Ford Focus struck Gutierrez and Ramirez.

Gutierrez died at the scene and Ramirez was transported to Del Sol Medical Center, but died at the hospital.

The 41-year old driver of the Focus immediately stopped and remained at the scene.

Saturday ABC-7 confirmed with family Ramirez had come to live in El Paso after leaving Phoenix.

Ramirez had 4 children, two in El Paso and two in Phoenix.

Margarita Gallegos, the mother of Ramirez’s two daughters in El Paso told ABC-7 Ramirez saw his daughters 2 weeks ago after not seeing them for almost 4 years.

Gallegos told ABC-7 Ramirez had made plans to spend time with his daughters on Superbowl Sunday.

Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in this collision on the part of the 41-year old driver and both Gutierrez and Ramirez. Charges are pending against the 41-year old driver. His name is not being released until charges are filed.
