Fort Bliss soldier is found not guilty in murder case

Fort Bliss soldier Tyrone Head was found not guilty of the two counts of murder he was facing Thursday, a court official said.

Closing arguments began Thursday, and the verdict was returned that afternoon.

Head was accused of taking part in a gunfight that ended with the killing of two of his fellow soldiers.

The incident occurred outside a club in January 2012.

According to the indictment, Head allegedly threatened Craig Allen Graham, a Marine veteran.

The documents state Head pulled out a weapon and fired it, triggering the gunfight between him and Graham.

Police said that during the fight, Graham shot and killed two soldiers: Damien Bailey and Preston Brown.

Head was also injured during the shooting.

Prosecutors argued the two solider were killed during the firefight. However, the defense team suggested Head only shot into the air, and never hit anyone.

Graham is awaiting trial in the case. He is charged with capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
