Convicted Manhattan Heights rapist sentenced to 30 years in prison in latest case

Arturo Valtierra-Payan, the convicted Manhattan Heights rapist, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison on the five charges he pleaded guilty to earlier this month in connection to one of the rape cases.

Valtierra two weeks ago pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count each of burglary and aggravated robbery. These guilty pleas all stem from the same case, a June 2013 attack where he threatened a woman with an ice pick as he assaulted her in her Central El Paso home in the Manhattan Heights area.

Valtierra was charged in three rape cases in the Manhattan Heights area that allegedly took place in May and June 2013.

Back in August 2014, an El Paso jury found Valtierra guilty of attacking and raping a woman in late June 2013.

He is already serving four life sentences and 99 years in prison concurrently for that conviction. The 30 years he was sentenced to for his guilty pleas this month will be served concurrently that previous sentence.

Valtierra faces trial for an alleged attack on a couple in their Manhattan Heights home in 2013 and a rape case in Fort Worth.
