Teen daughter shot by dad in East El Paso dies; dad killed himself after shooting her

Second Update: El Paso Police announced Tuesday afternoon that the 14-year-old girl shot by her father has died from her injuries.

Police say that 51-year-old Ramon Nevarez, of the 11600 block of Spencer, shot his 14-year-old daughter Emily Rose Nevarez and then shot himself.

Ramon died at the scene from his injuries and Emily was taken to hospital in critical condition.

First Update : El Paso Police are investigating Tuesday’s early morning shooting incident in East El Paso as an attempted murder-suicide.

Police say that 51-year-old Ramon Nevarez, of the 11600 block of Spencer, shot his 14-year-old daughter Emily Rose Nevarez and then shot himself.

Ramon died at the scene from his injuries.

Emily was transported to a local hospital where she remains in critical condition.

Police are continuing to investigate the case.

El Paso police tell us their Crimes Against Persons unit is responding. Besides the one person who was killed, police say another person is in the hospital. No other details are available at this time.
