New partnership aims to promote borderland tourism
Visions of El Paso’s future are on display at the Borderplex Alliance offices in downtown.
Borderplex Alliance is working to make the sketches and plans created by students of the Texas Tech School of Architecture a reality.
The partnership was announced Monday, aimed at improving tourism in the area.
Borderplex Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting economic development and prosperity in Juarez, El Paso, and southern New Mexico.
The director of the Texas Tech School of Architecture called it a collective brainstorming session.
“We’re coming together to make things happen,” said Dr. Robert Gonzalez.
Six projects are currently in the works.
The first one is an eco-tourism hub located at the Franklin Mountains State Park.
“There’s no real good place to go enjoy a sunset,” said Borderplex Alliance CEO, Rolando Pablos.
Students created plans to build an outlook at Transmountain Road in west El Paso.
“It is designed to take advantage of the beautiful sunset we have,” said Pablos.
