Railroad crossing closures

Several El Paso railroad crossings will be closed Monday. The Elm Street and Rosewood railroad crossings between Grant Avenue and Pershing Drive will be closed. The Elm Street railroad will be closed permanently. The Rosewood crossing will be closed for a short time as crews upgrade the crossings and construct a new median and sidewalks.

The closings are all part of the Five Points Quiet Zone Project approved in April 2013. City officials say trains will pass without sounding their horns as frequently as they have in the past. They hope that this will cut back on the amount of noise in Central El Paso.
