NMSU changes fall financial aid disbursement dates

New Mexico State University will be adjusting the dates for the fall financial aid disbursement after students complained.

ABC-7’s New Mexico Mobile Newsroom first reported on the disbursement issue on Thursday.

Students were shocked to learn they would not be receiving all their aid money before the school year starts.

On Friday, NMSU announced the first 75 percent disbursement will be available to students on the first day of class — August 19.

The second 25 percent disbursement will be available on September 9.

Before Friday’s decision students weren’t going to get their financial aid until September and October.

That was a big issue for students who use the money for rent and to buy books off-campus.
