sullivan company of el paso presents a double bill production of “th zoo” and “trial by jury” for 46th season celebrating its 46th anniversary, the gilbert & sullivan company of el paso proudly presents its 2015 summer production of “the zoo” and “trial jury”, two one-act comi operettas. performances are at the chamizal national memorial theater 800 s. san marcial in el paso, texas on friday and saturday, july 24, 25, 31 and august 1 at 7:00 pm and sunday, august 2 at 2:00 pm. advance purchase tickets are: $10 adults/$8 students, seniors and military. tickets at the door are: $12 adults/$10 students, seniors and military. “the zoo” center around two couples and their hilarious and rocky road to true love. set in london’s zoological gardens, a modest young chemist, aesculapius carboy is desolate and determined to hang himself because he may not marry laetitia, the daughter of mr. grinder, a heartless retired grocer. eliza smith, the lady in charge of the zoo refreshment stand, tries to dissuade him. meanwhile, eliza is being wooed by thomas brown, a nobleman that visits her stand every day and buys and eats a vast amount of food to try to impress her. in this fun musical folly, suicide is foiled and identies revealed as the four young lovers overcome differences in wealth and class to live happily ever after. there is mayhem in the courtroom in “trial by jury” witty, tuneful and filled with sparkling singing, “trial by jury” centers the court case between angelina and
