Alamogordo Police charge 27-year-old woman with murder in shooting death

Police responding to a shots fired call early Thursday morning found a woman dead inside a home on the 1000 block of Dexter Lane.

According to police officials, officers found Erica Castillo, 28, dead from a gunshot wound.

An investigation led to the arrest of Lydia Mendez, 27, who police charged with an open count of Murder.

Mendez is currently being held at the Otero County Detention Center without bond.
