HSFB: Bel Air Has Fun With Us at KVIA
that time of year where two-a-days have not started and there’s only so much players and coaches can do… it is the time of the year where players have to challenge themselves to stay focised through the slowest part of the offseason… the last few weeks before the start of two-a- days… coach: in the weight room they work on their three core lifts: the bench press, the squat and the power clean, things like that. outside we do a lot of change of direction drills and conditioning drills. those are the things we’re doing to get ready for the season. and that routine calls for players to be willing to put in extra work on their own if they want to get better.. contreras: in the off time when we don’t usually work out as a team, i throw with my receivers and get that timing right and build are chemistry. but what about when they’re not doing those things? after all, there’s so much more to football than just strength and timing.. coach: “we’ve been working on ou intimidation.” danny: “how have you been doing that?” then of course there’s the motivational aspect. coach: “and guy’s remember: whatever the scoreboard reads, we never give up. never ever give up. did the u-s give up when the german bombed pearl harbor?” player: “germans? don’t stop him, he’s on a roll.” they also work on their pregame speeches … player: ” like roses and bubble baths!” and they mentor the incoming freshman… freshman player: “but i won’t fit in there!” player: “not wit that attitude.” for now thing are quiet… but bel air is one of many teams passing the time by becoming better…. gotta love the kids at bel air… they should be a more balanced offensive team and that should help them make a deeper playoff push… and they’re a lot of fun… we are just a couple of weeks away from
