Las Cruces Police seek help finding missing woman and her 2 small children

Las Cruces Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 28-year-old woman and her two young children who are reported missing and could be in danger.

Renee Nicholas was last seen by friends at around 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, at her residence near the 800 block of Walnut Street in Las Cruces.

Police believe Nicholas had her 9-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter with her and planned on returning to her residence by 10 p.m. Wednesday but she never did.

Sometime early Thursday morning friends of Nicholas began receiving text messages from the woman’s cell phone indicating that she needed help or was in some type of danger.

Dan Trujillo with the Las Cruces Police Department says those text messages she sent have investigators worried.

“Those messages text messages that she sent to her friends do give us some cause for concern we do need help from the community we need somebody with eyes out for her and her children to let us know where she is,” Trujillo said.

Police say they have reason to believe Nicholas may be in El Paso and could be traveling with someone, possibly a male friend or acquaintance.

Nicholas is 5-foot-7 and weighs about 170 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing black spandex pants and a red Budweiser T-shirt.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Nicholas and her two children is asked to immediately call 911 or their local law enforcement agency.
