NMSU holds football media day

NMSU football head coach Doug Martin, along with several players, met with members of the media on Tuesday for NMSU Media Day to kick off Fall Camp for the 2015 season.

Players reported back to campus this week and will start practices on Wednesday afternoon. Practices begin at 3:00 p.m. and are open to the public and the media until approximately 4:10 p.m.

The overall theme of the media day was that the Aggies are more prepared than ever for the upcoming ’15 season. Coach Martin said the players worked extremely hard in the off-season and it shows.

“Depth wise, size wise, all those things that we have been able to address have put us in a position, really for what I feel like is the first time that we can go out and compete with anybody,” Martin said.

The players ABC-7 spoke to feel no different.

NMSU Linebacker Rodney Butler, said the team already has a new confidence about the upcoming season and their potential.

“I feel like a lot of people on both sides of the ball got stronger, bigger, faster and that just brings confidence,” Butler said.

The team opens the 2015 season on Sept. 5 as they travel to Gainesville, Fla. to take on the Gators in a 5:30 p.m. (MT) kickoff. The game will be televised on the SEC Network.
