Chihuahuas Get Extra Inning Walk-Off Win
Will Middlebrooks hit a game-ending single with two outs in the bottom of the 11 th inning to give the El Paso Chihuahuas a 4-3 win over the Reno AcesTuesdaynight. The low line drive went past the outstretched glove of Reno third baseman Jamie Romak. It was El Paso’s seventh walk-off win of the season.
The Chihuahuas struck first on back-to-back doubles by Rymer Liriano and Diego Goris in the bottom of the third inning. Goris went 2-for-4 in his Triple-A debut. Alex Dickerson sent the first pitch of the bottom of the fifth inning onto the roof of right field’s Big Dog House, giving El Paso a 2-0 lead.
El Paso led 3-2 with two outs in the top of the ninth when Reno shortstop Danny Worth lined an RBI single to left. After not scoring in the ninth and tenth innings, Travis Jankowski hit a single to begin the bottom of the 11th. A sacrifice bunt and groundout put Jankowski at third for Middlebrooks’ game-ending hit.
