Teachers rescue driver

teachers have the tough job of educating and caring for their students. two new mexico teachers can now add heroes to their resume. this past friday, the teachers helped a driver who crashed into a canal right in front of their school. it happened near vinton road and highway 28, in anthony, new mexico. abc-7’s iris lopez spoke with the teachers. “i guess it’s an instinct you know of humans to come out and see if everything is okay.” that human instinct is what helped save the life of one unfortuate driver, who drove into a canal. “we did see the car, you heard the skidding of the tires when they hit, like, loose gravel.” suggs gema suggs is the assistant principal at alta vista early college high school, in the upper valley. it was there-this past friday-where she and leticia myers found themseves pulling a young lady out of her car. “i saw this huge plume of dust and so i came running.” myers stand up: “it was in this exact location that both teachers say the car drove over the rocks and submerged into the ditch.” “wh got us to come was that we saw all the dust, but we never saw the car come out on the other side.” suggs myers: “the gir was over here in the canal that was totally filled up, and just floating around there” :39 unable to open the car’s door, the teachers gathered their strength and pulled the driver through a window. “when i saw the little girl in there, or the young lady i would’ve liked it if somebody would do that for me if that ever happened.” iris lopez, abc-7. the teachers say the driver seemed very shaken up. thankfully, she wasn’t hurt.
