Back to School: Eastwood parking woes continue

problem is completely outside the classroom. abc-7’s luke lyddon checked back on eastwood high school, where the parking spots promise to be even tighter this year. it’s part of our “back-to-school series. for years, eastwood high school has had some of the tightest on-campus parking around. “it is an issue, we have limited parking on campus. that is part of the issue, and the other issue is students don’t have drivers license or insurance and they chose to park off campus.” while parking spots are so limited on campus– many students choose to park elsewhere. “the students ca park in the eastridge neighborhood right now, certain parts of montwood they can park, so there are still various spots around school they can park.” standup: “starting this week, students will still be able to park here in the eastridge neighborhood, filling up the entire street alongside all of these houses. and when we talked to neighbors some of them still had mixed feelings about the students parking right in front of their own house.” “what are th going to do? they need to have a place and all that is available is the streets.” city council approved a parking boundary around eastwood back in may letting surrounding neighborhoods restrict parking if they choose. on this map the red represents restricted parking areas while the green shows spots that are open to students. and you may notice there are now more parking restrictions this year compared to last. some of these newly restricted roads include stonehaven west of eastwood and honolulu road just north of campus for the start of the school year.. beware– a majority of students will once again have to look off campus for even fewer parking spots.o luke lyddon, abc 7. if you want to prevent students from parking in front of your home in the eastwood area– call 311 for more information. later on good morning el paso… a look at
