Mother pleads guilty in death of 2-year-old daughter; sentence suspended
The mother who pleaded guilty in connection with the death of her 2-year-old daughter will not set foot inside a prison.
According to court documents, Elizabeth Graham pleaded guilty Thursday, Oct. 1 to injury to a child by omission.
She was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but the sentence was suspended.
Instead, Elizabeth will have to serve 500 hours community service and she was ordered to pay a $1,700 fine.
Former Fort Bliss soldier Dartarious Graham was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the death of his 2-year-old daughter.
He was convicted last week of injury to a child.
In September of last year, his cousin told investigators Dartarious beat the girl with a belt in her room because she soiled her diapers.
Prosecutors say Dartarious went back to playing video games and left the girl unresponsive.
Elizabeth was not at the home when the beating occurred but investigators learned that Dartarious had a history of beating the child and Elizabeth failed to protect her daughter and report the abuse.
