Environmental Services Department offers new service

The City of El Paso Environmental Services Department has a new service that will allow customers to pick up free reusable household products.

Items include: carpet cleaner, oven cleaner, fertilizer, furniture polish, wood preservative, wood stain, paint thinner, car wax, brake fluid, antifreeze, and adhesives such as glue, putty, and caulk.

The products are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is a limit of ten products per customer. An I.D. and signature is required for anyone picking up household products.

The Citizen Collection Stations are at the following locations:

Central: 2492 Harrison
Eastside: 1034 Pendale
Northeast: 4501 Hondo Pass (entrance off of Stahala)
Westside: 121 Atlantic

They are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday,

The Reusable Household Product Program collects products in their original containers and are in good, usable condition.

The purpose of the program is to use up the products to help reduce the amount of hazardous waste that has to be disposed of.
