Car catches fire on I-10

A car caught on fire while on I-10 West and Copia Friday evening.

Abc-7 spoke with the family on scene. They tell Abc-7 a plastic trash bag got stuck underneath the rear-end of their car. They pulled over to try to remove it, but they weren’t able to. As they began driving on the freeway, they noticed several cars began honking at them. They weren’t aware the car was on fire until a woman pulled down her window next to them to tell them.

The family says they managed to escape, but within minutes, the the car exploded.

Traffic was backed up for hours as police and fire crews cleared the scene. No one was injured.
