Jefferson High Teacher Given Star on the Mountain Award

Jefferson High School teacher, John Gable was honored at City Council yesterday. He’s the educator who won teacher of the year from El Paso. It was an honor he took all the way to the state competitions where he won third place overall. But the council wanted to honor Gable in their own way. They presented him the Star on the Mountain award. Mayor Oscar Leeser says he deserves it not only for being teacher of the year, but because of who he is and who he represents. In addition to creating a metals and welding program at Jefferson High School, Gables is also the Silver Foxes’ varsity softball coach. El Paso County Commissioners also declared September 14, “John Gable Day” in honor of his achievements in the community.
