Various local high schools head to cross country state finals

The cross country regional took place in Lubbock, Texas on Monday afternoon. And El Paso made a strong statement as 4 different local teams qualified for state.

In district 3A, Tornillo was crowned the regional champion as they took first place, while Tornillo’s Adrian Morales placed first individually with a time of 16:16.74.

Over in District 4A defending state champions San Elizario continued its dominance as they took first place followed by Clint in second.

San Elizario’s Erick Arambula also took third place individually with a time of 15:26.43.

For the girls in 4A Mountain View’s Michelle Estrada placed third with a time of 11:39 in the 2 mile run.

Finally in 6A, Eastwood qualified grabbing the last state qualifying spot in 4th place. Also important to note, Eastwood’s Daniel Bernal took first place individually with a time of 14:41.7
