very slim. its estimated only 1.6% of college athletes are drafted by the nfl. former utep miner horace miller was not part of that… but that hasn’t stopped him from giving back to his community… abc 7’s luke lyddon explains. nats: “sound of get me d1 former utep miner horace miller’s nfl journey was never easy. “it is what i is you know being in 3 different states and both coasts. but being able to do what i love …it’s always great to be able to do something you love.” miller has played for the seattle seahawks, carolina panthers and oakland raiders in his young career. there’s no question miller has the ability to make it in the nfl– and now he is helping high school players make the jump to the college level. “get me d1 was a whole concept i created unknowingly when i was in hs in order to create to these networks with utep, louisville as well as the other coaches calling me and offering scholarships.” get me d1 is a free service that lets high school players join a database full of resources and contacts that gives athletes the very best chance of getting noticed. “with get me d1 you can create free profiles, you can upload unlimited highlight tapes, videos, pictures, stats, athletic achievements all for free.” but miller say it all starts with networking. “it usuall boils down to who you know and not what you know. i’ve personally called the coach up and say you know i’ve got a guy here that is very interested in your university check them out, and obviously they will.” only 2.4% of high school players will play division i football– but now there is another option available that all started here in the borderland. luke lyddon. abc 7. if you would like to learn more about miller’s service we have a link on our website kvia.com under the sports tab. and right now miller is currently working out with the seattle seahawks but has not signed a deal just yet. kvia
