partnership is helping pave the way– literally– for more skateparks in el paso. the pollard park- pond is el paso water utilities latest project to not only control stormwater– but also be skater- friendly. it’s located on pollard street between fort boulevard and sacramento drive in central el paso. good morning el paso’s denise olivas is live with the story …denise? alan shubert– v-p of operations for el paso water utilities says this is the type of partnership he is open to… where its projects can also serve another purpose. right now construction is underway– crews are paving what used to be an empty lot. shubert says the el paso skatepark association had some input on how to make it skater- friendly. in this case– epwu says it was something they could do and it’s safe too. this is just one small portion of a larger project to control flooding in central el paso: “where we’re trying to alleviat flooding… stormwater infrastructure” coming up– a look at one of the pond- parks already complete in the northeast. also– why shubert says epwu will continue with similar projects. house republicans say they have a northeast. also– why shubert says epwu will continue with similar projects. house republicans say they have a short-term spending bill paso is in the works. it will help control stormwater– but will also accommodate local skateboarders. pollard park will be located on pollard street between fort boulevard and sacramento drive in central el paso. a look at how el paso water utilities is creating projects with more than one purpose. good morning el paso’s denise olivas is live with the details…denise? pollard park-pond isn’t the first of its kind here in el paso– and it may not be the last. this was the van buren dam before— just grass and dirt. and this is what it looks like now– a paved skatepark: “it’s one of the many projects… specifically at the interstate” construction is already underway to make pollard park skater-friendly. shubert says epwu teamed up with the el paso skatepark association to help design the layout. it will have paved slopes, concrete curbs, sidewalks and landscaping. shubert adds that el paso can always use an extra skatepark: “i don’t know that they’ll ever build enough of them…we like to work with” the nearly one- million dollar project is expected to be complete in may of next year. looking ahead to monday’s county
