El Paso police are investigating an officer-involved shooting, according to a department spokesman.

The shooting occurred near the Zaragoza port of entry at about 6 p.m.

Officials say police were conducting traffic control at the intersection near the port of entry when they say events unfolded that led to an officer firing at the driver of a truck.

The man is 57-year-old Alberto Bencomo.

Police say he allegedly threatened officers with his car. He’s charged with resisting arrest and two counts of aggravated assault against a public servant.
