Borderland getting ready for new Star Wars film
installment of the sci-fi saga hits theaters this thursday — and the anticipation is building. abc-7’s adrian ochoa reports: it’s been more than 10 years since a new star wars film has hit the big screen — and for fans — that’s 10 years too long. “we’ve been excited since seein those first trailers.” in case his living room didn’t give it away. el pasoan jesse lucero is a die hard fan. he’s already got his ticket. “you know everytime a trailer comes out we were…it just looks good” th films have stood the test of time — going back at least three generations. just take a look. the first film came out in 1977. say you were 17 at the time. the next set of films came out in 1999 — about the time you probably took your teenage son or daughter to go see the phantom menace. now in 2015 — the force awakens — will be the film your grandchildren will remember seeing in the theater. “it was just such an incredible journey into a time that we couldn’t possibly understand” felipa solis is a member of the broadcast film critics. she too is eager to see the film: “it’s going to make cinematic history. i hope that it’s really really good.” and while i grew up with the prequels in the late 90’s — the original three are and while i grew up with the prequels in the late 90’s — the original three are still the best in my opinion. i say it was because this guy ruined everything. go away jar-jar. but now that disney has taken over the franchise — everyone is wondering — will the force be strong with the house of mouse and director — j-j abrams? “i’m hoping that with disney’ creativity — jj abrams thought processes and not to say the ghost of george lucas but the essence….this could be a really really great film. and oh yeah — with all the midnight showings planned for thursday — teachers be prepared for friday. “i have a feeling there are going to be a lot of absences” lucero though — wh teaches middle school — may be a bit more understanding: “i don’t know if the other ones will — but i understand.” so strap in and ge ready to make that jump to lightspeed — as the borderland prepares to return to that galaxy — far far away: “we just hope it doesn’t suck like that would really suck i would like cry.” adria ochoa — abc-7. “chewie — we’re home.” stormtrack weather is up next. doppler dave is standing by with a preview of our abc-7 stormtrack
