El Paso family sharing love & loss this Christmas

This past August, an El Paso couple welcomed the Sun City’s first-ever quintuplets, three girls and two boys.

Although the Giron-Delgado family lost Baby Vanessa 20 days after her birth, they are feeling blessed this holiday season.

Stockings with the names of all five babies adorn the family’s chimney: Vanessa, Jackeline, Moncerrat, Diego and Samuel.

The home is a busy place, with the two parents taking care of their four, four-month-old babies.

“We are constantly changing diapers, feeding the babies,” said the father, Marco Giron-Delgado.

The babies still sleep in mom and dad’s room but they have rooms filled with their own things. There is even a closet filled with diapers.

Marco said they go through 40 diaper changes and 40 bottles of formula in just one day.

Caring for the babies has taken a toll on their personal lives. “Things that you used to do, go out to eat and to the movies, how to spend your money, everything has changed, we haven’t watched television in a long time,” said Marco.

The parents are still recovering from the loss of Vanessa. “We were there with the baby until her last moments,” said Marco. “It was one of our toughest things to do having to give back our baby to God.”

Susana Giron-Delgado, the mother, struggled to hold back tears when she heard Vanessa’s name. She says she has to be strong for the rest of her babies.

“I feel peace knowing they are together and they will always have a guardian angel looking over them,” she said.
