police are searching for a man wanted for questioning in a homicide investigation that began last night. we have the latest in a live report. also–one person is dead and at least 30 are injured after a woman intentionally drove onto a sidewalk on a busy strip in vegas– vo and the man who police say bought the rifles used in the san bernardino terrorist attack will be in court again today. a very good morning el paso, las cruces, and juarez. i’m stephanie valle./ el paso police are asking the public for help in locating a person wanted for questioning in a homicide case. the body of a 56- year-old-man was found near the intersection of alameda and tobin last night. police say several other locations around the city may be linked. one of those locations is near the intersection of mesquite bush and mesquite hill drive in northeast el paso. when we arrived there was only one patrol unit parked outside. it was quite a different scene at the intersection of sun valley and antler in northeast el paso. the swat team was called out… but left overnight without making any arrests. neighbors tell abc-7 police were shouting for a man named “daniel” to come out and that is the name of the man police want to talk to this morning. abc-7’s denise olivas continues the story with new information from the scene of the shooting in south central el paso. denise? we are back here at scene of where the body of that 56 yo man was discovered. this morning police are looking for another man they want to speak with he is 25 yo daniel michael athens. they have not said if he is a suspect, but at this point only saying detectives want to talk to him. as we mentioned earlier, neighbors told our crew police were yelling for a man named daniel to come out when they were sun valley and antler in the northeast. tag w cg if you do have any info you are asked to call police at 832-4400. a live look at stormtrack doppler radar is showing… currently around our region… here’s your day planner for today… expect skies, winds and temperatures in the by 8 am, by noon and for your drive home around 5 pm. we’ll talk more about what to expect for the rest of this work week and the weekend ahead coming up in your full forecast. overnight in las vegas a car plowed into a crowd of people on the famous strip. at least one person is dead.. and 36 injured. investigators say the driver crashed into a group of pedestrians on the sidewalk.. with a toddler in the car. this morning, authorities are ruling out terrorism. but they say.. it was intentional. open abc’s reena ninan has the latest… on this story developing now tragedy in sin city. i was shocked, like ‘oh my god what is going on?’ this is las vegas, and this is christmas. overnight, the vegas strip.. shutdown. a female driver.. crashing into a crowd … near “paris las vegas” a “planet hollywood,” the venue for last night’s miss universe pageant. “you can see people literally bouncing off .. she was running over everybody.” witnesses sa the driver hit a group of people.. then drove back up on the sidewalk.. hitting more people. it look like she wasn’t trying to stop the car.. both hands on the wheel and going straight forward we determined this was an intentional act. this morning.. investigators confirm a child was also inside the car. “we do know there was a toddler in the vehicle with the driver, who’s 3 years old. and toddler is unharmed.” before driving off again.. witnesses.. jumping into action. trying to stop the driver.. from causing more harm. “you can see three or four guys just punching the window.. make her stop and get the child out.” a reporter with our las vegas affliate.. on the scene moments after the crash: kntv las vegas reporter rought verbate: “a witnesses tells me.. this is around where he was standing.. when he saw a car drive right here.. where you see those yellow cones .. that is where we are told 37 people were injured.. according to officials.” th woman was eventually taken into custody. tests are being done to determine if she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. reena ninan, abc news, new york happening today— there’s a court appearance scheduled in california for the man who authorities say bought the assault rifles used in the san bernardino shootings. enrique marquez is making his second court appearance on a terrorism-related charge. prosecutors are asking for no bail, saying that marquez is dangerous and a flight risk. / in east el paso … a space heater is being blamed for causing a warehouse fire.. it happened shortly after midnight sunday on the 500 block of nonap road. el paso county sheriff’s deputies say they arrived to find the warehouse engulfed in flames. crews battled the fire for about an hour until they were able to extinguish it. a fire marshal says the fire was accidental and was caused by a space heater that was left turned on. no one was inside the warhouse at the time. damage is estimated at $325- thousand dollars. still no word on what caused the fire that killed an elderly couple friday night. it happened shortly before 11-o-clock friday night on the 18-hundred block of tom bolt in east el paso. police tell abc-7 the two people killed were 77-year-old guillermo franco and his wife, 76- year-old natalia de la pena franco. when fire crews arrived they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the home. guillermo franco was found dead in the home natalia was taken to the hospital but later died from her injuries. now it’s time to take a look at the tx-dot traffic cams… we have much more to come here on good morning el paso— including changes that are going into affect today for people who own drones– and later–we have a wrap up of the democratic debate over the weekend and what republican presidential candidates are saying in response.. meteorologist krystal klei has your detailed forecast. krystal… and this is abc-7, where news comes first!
