Teen involved in El Paso robberies, police chase gets 2 years probation in NM
New Mexico prosecutors gave a glimpse at what allegedly happened during a high-speed chase involving five El Paso teens.
Edwin Rodriguez, 15, had his sentencing hearing today and that is when a prosecutor said at one point a passenger asked Rodriguez to stop during chase.
Rodriguez then allegedly said he could “outrun these fools,” referring to the law enforcement agencies that were chasing them.
Rodriguez was sentenced to two years probation after pleading no contest to charges that included aggravated assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon.
Rodriguez will have a strict curfew and will be monitored with the help of a GPS.
The four other teens involved are 14-year-old Jaquil Webb, who pleaded guilty to several charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; 15-year-old Evelyn Brown, 14-year-old Antonio Brown, and 14-year-old Isaiah Garcia.
Whatever their punishments end up being in New Mexico, the teens will most likely end up back in El Paso to face charges for the alleged robberies here.
