Driver killed in single vehicle collision

Early Christmas morning special traffic investigators responded to assist Northeast Regional Command officers with the investigation of a traffic collision.

28-year old Sergio Padilla was traveling south on Dyer when he lost
control of his 2004 Chevrolet Malibu and collided into a traffic signal pole at Dyer and Hayes. Both he and his 38-year old passenger, Isaac Arroyo of Juarez, Mexico were transported to University Medical Center with serious injuries.

Sergio Padilla, of El Paso, died of his injuries. Police have not released any further information on the condition of his passenger.

This was the 51st traffic fatality compared with 58 this time last year.
