I-10 East at I-20 interchange open; traffic moving in both directions

Original Story: Texas state officials confirm that the eastbound lanes of I-10 are completely shut down before the I-20 interchange.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, this is due to icy conditions. It’s not clear when the lanes will reopen, but travelers headed to Dallas or San Antonio are urged to stay home or seek shelter elsewhere.
TxDOT signs in the El Paso metro area warn that traffic is shut down at mile marker 180. Texas DPS says traffic is shut down at mile marker 191.
In an email sent at 4:40 a.m. Monday morning from TxDOT to ABC-7, a spokesman said quote “I-10 East at Mile marker 191, Icy Conditions, All East bound main lanes closed until further notice. travel discouraged, seek shelter in nearest location.”
TxDOT has not said whether the lanes on I-10 west are closed. According to a map of TxDOT road closures, they remain open.
Overnight, the ABC-7 newsroom received dozens of calls from stranded motorists, many of which said they had been stuck in the middle of the desert for hours since Sunday evening. Many have also told ABC-7 that they were running out of gas.
