Judge raises Hradek’s bond after she’s re-arrested on Christmas Eve
A judge raised the bond of Lindsay Hradek after she was re-arrested Christmas Eve.
Hradek, who is preparing for a new trial, was convicted in the death of her 2-month-old baby in August. Prosecutors convinced the jury she and the baby’s father were high on cocaine when they left their little boy upside down in a car seat, covered with pillows.
The 25-year-old was let out of prison on bond in November after her defense team claimed she was not properly represented at trial.
She was re-arrested on Christmas Day, and today, Hradek was back in court, where a judge raised her bond to $50,000.
“I believe eventually she’s going to be vindicated,” her attorney Ruben Morales said. “So I’m a little unhappy about the fact that she may have to spend a substantial amount of time in jail while this appeal is pending. But I understand why the court made the decision that it made.”
Her attorneys asked the judge to let her live with her father while she waits for her new trial. They said Hradek stayed off drugs, looked for work, and obeyed her curfew.
Prosecutors argued they have evidence that shows Hradek was working at a strip club and she was associating with people who have criminal records, both violations of her parole.
Also in court today, prosecutors said Hradek didn’t meet with her parole officer, and they say she claimed to have tuberculosis.
As for Hradek’s new trial, the district attorney is appealing it and no date has been set.
