Lane closure on Pebble Hills Boulevard at the intersection of Zaragoza Road beginning
As part of the Pebble Hills Boulevard Extension project, there will be a lane closure on Pebble Hills Boulevard at the intersection of Zaragoza Road beginning Tuesday, January 12th, 2016 in order to allow the contractor to perform a utility relocation.
The closure will last for approximately two weeks and is part of a transportation project that will fill an important missing gap on Pebble Hills Boulevard from Zaragoza Road to Tierra Mina Drive. Proper traffic control measures will be in place to direct the traveling public through this area throughout the duration of the project. The work closure schedule may be modified due to weather or other unforeseen events.
The project includes the installation of a new storm sewer system, sanitary and sewer lines, new striping for bicycle lanes, upgraded traffic signals at Zaragoza Road, as well as additional landscaping and ADA compliant sidewalks with illumination.
This new connection will create a continuous east-west thoroughfare running from John Hayes Street to Yarbrough Drive. It will also provide motorists with an option to access Loop 375 while avoiding the intersection at Zaragoza and Montwood, and will allow motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists to get where they’re going more effectively.
Once complete, this heavily traveled thoroughfare will enhance El Paso’s regional transportation system and infrastructure network, as well as promote the visual image of El Paso.
