off the final year of his presidency with a state of the union address trumpeting a spotlight on what he’s achieved during his 2 terms. he spoke about an array of topics…less about policy more on long term goals while also addressing the candidates seeking to succeed him. abc’s stephanie ramos has our top story. nats – “the president of th united states!” thi was it. president obama’s last state of the union address before congress and the nation. nats: applause kicking off the speech .. acknowledging the 2016 election and the horse race in the early primary states. sot : obama, “for thi final obama will kick off his post state of the union tour…stopping in nebraska and louisiana. stephanie ramos abc news washington developing now— 10 u.s. sailors that were detained by iran yesterday have been released. these are photos of the sailors from iranian state t-v. our military officials say the sailors are back in american care as we speak — and show no signs of having been harmed. the general of iran’s naval force said that the united states acted …quote…. “unprofessionally” by carryi out air and naval maneuvers in iranian territorial waters. he added that the foreign minister of iran wants the u.s. to apologize for its actions. / new this morning– for the first time in six months, we can see mexican drug lord “el chapo” in prison outfit. mexican officials released his new mugshot yesterday. it shows “el chapo” with h head shaven and wearing a gray prison shirt. he is now back in the maximum-security prison he escaped from last year. but mexican officials are saying this time — they’re moving him from different cells randomly. and that he’s already been moved eight times. the u-s is fighting to have him extradited on seven drug- related indictments. but a mexican judicial source says it could take more than a year to make a decision about that. meanwhile… four men arrested alongside “el chapo” are bei held in juarez. the prisoners were moved on sunday to a federal maximum- security prison in the outskirts of the city. the suspects were staying with “el chapo” in this safe house i his home state of sinaloa. the suspects have not yet been identified but officials say they were arrested on federal charges of drug trafficking and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. guzman was arrested friday following a shootout that killed five of his men and wounded one marine. the father accused in the death of his 5-month old baby will spend 20 years behind bars — after accepting responsibility for the death of his son. former fort bliss soldier jeffrey farrey — pleaded guilty to injury to a child yesterday. his 5-month old son — jackson — was found buried in the desert outside orogrande, new mexico back in 2013. last year — jackson’s mother — jenna farrey — pleaded guilty to a charge of injury to a child. she was sentenced to 35 years in prison. court documents state jeffrey and jenna claimed they found jackson unresponsive — and didn’t seek medical attention. the documents also state the couple told investigators jackson was dead and buried somewhere in the desert. in las cruces — a husband and wife testified in the case against former el paso county judge — anthony cobos. from our new mexico mobile newsroom … cobos is currently serving a four-year sentence for accepting a bribe when he was county judge. now he’s fighting a fraud charge. he sold his late step-mother’s home in chaparral to a couple — and allegedly kept their monthly payments and did not pay the mortgage. the couple eventually received foreclosure notices. they told the jury yesterday that while making payments to cobos, they tried to claim the home mortgage interest tax deduction, but it was denied by the irs. that’s when they say cobos wrote up a second contract so they could qualify for that deduction. zamora told the jury cobos asked them to make larger payments because he was having problems in texas. the defense argued the contract never stated what the money was to be used for. they also claim the couple was late on payments. if convicted on these charges — cobos faces up to 9 more years in prison. el paso police were called out to a suspicious device that was found between gateway west and montana. it happened around 7:30 in the morning yesterday on the 14-hundred block of robert e. lee road. there were no evacuations, but people in the area were asked to stay inside as bomb squads took care of it. “device explodes” the incident started after someone reported seeing a green military ammunition cannister out in the open. no word yet on what was in the cannister… but authorities say there was no danger to the businesses in the area. if you’re waking up feeling lucky then you better get yourself some powerball lotto tickets. the jackpot is now at one-and-a-half billion dollars! good morning el paso’s denise olivas is live with more… denise? i’ve spent a little too much time thinking about what i would do if i hit the jackpot. then i think about the odds– the odds of hitting the jackpot on a single ticket are one in 292-point-2 million. let’s talk about those tickets that are never claimed. but some people
