Former Las Cruces City Councilor dies

Update: Miguel Silva was laid to rest Saturday at the Newman Center near NMSU’s campus.

Las Cruces Mayor Ken Miyagishima confirms former Las Cruces City Councilor Miguel Silva is dead.

Mayor Miyagishima says police told him it was an unattended death.

It is unclear how or when he died.

Mayor Miyagishima sent ABC-7 this statement in regards to the sudden passing of Silva:

“Many of the successes that we’ve had here in Las Cruces and southern New Mexico are a result of his support. Many of the great things that we have accomplished as well as going on right now could not of done without his support.”
