Vietnam veterans banners unveiled at San Jacinto PLaza

City Rep. Emma Acosta and the El Paso Vietnam Veterans Committee on Monday unveiled the new veterans banners at San Jacinto Plaza.

It is part of eight events organized to honor veterans who didn’t get the recognition they deserved decades ago. The banners will be displayed in downtown El Paso and Airway Boulevard.

“I think the banner is a clear indication that the people of El Paso recognize the fact that even though the war was clearly unpopular, we nevertheless answered the nation’s call,” Vietnam War veteran Bill Hart Jr. said. “We went over there and we did our jobs.”

Several events will take place throughout the month August.
