Humane Society talks mutts, telethon and an aoptable pet

as i do and here are some reasons why mutts make such great pets. mongrels, heinz 57, or the all- american dog, is a dog of mixed and/or unknown breeds and, in my humble opinion, these adorable mixes make a great companion, as good as any purebred. mutts come in all sizes and shapes. they have long hair, short hair, curly hair, they have floppy ears, prick ears, one ear up, one ear down, short nose, long nose – each is a one of a kind package. they each have a unique personality, there is a mutt for everyone! they are plentiful and they don’t come with a high price tag or a long pedigree. whereas a pure breed is a singular breed, like a poodle, a mutt can be anything! think wirehaired chi-poo-terrier or labra- dobe-weimer. you can make up your dog’s own unique breed! some studies have shown that mutts tend to be healthier and may live longer. mutts make up approximately 85% of the animals in our local animals in our local animal shelters – so adopting one supports the shelters and helps reduce the local euthanasia rates. mutts in shelters have not had a charmed life or they would not be in a shelter to start with – but – given a chance to be adopted and respected, they will shower you with gratitude, and unconditional love for their entire life.
