Man sought in Family Dollar robbery

Las Cruces police are searching for a man who they say robbed a Family Dollar store on Monday.

Police say they were called to the Family Dollar at 1690 S. Solano Drive. Detectives learned that an armed man walked into the store and pointed a handgun at the cashier. The suspect demanded cash but fled with a carton of cigarettes, police said.

No one was injured.

Witnesses described the man as Hispanic, approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall, with acne scars on his face. He was wearing a red sweater, black pants and a black baseball cap. He might have left the area in a silver Ford Taurus or a Buick sedan.

Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that helps identify the man.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1800-222-TIPS (8477) or send a tip by text message to CRIMES (274637), keyword LCTIPS.
