Giant hay fire burns near Vado
A large hay fire is burning overnight off of I-10 near Vado, between El Paso and Las Cruces.
According to emergency crews at the scene, the fire is believed to have been started by lightning. The fire is located on the 18300 block of Stern Drive, just west of the highway. A sign near the property where the fire is located indicates it belongs to Mesa Farmers Cooperative, but it is unconfirmed if the fire is burning on their land.
Emergency crews at the scene tell ABC-7 that no animals are in danger.
