El Paso City Rep Emma Acosta is running for mayor.
District 3 El Paso City Rep. Emma Acosta has confirmed that she is running for mayor, speaking with ABC-7’s news partner the El Paso Inc. Acosta was first elected into office in 2008 and is wrapping up her second four-year term. Acosta told the El Paso Inc. she was hesitant to confirm her decision because she was planning to announce the decision after the presidential election, but did admit she is planning to run.
Acosta is quoted in the article saying, “I want to move the city forward, I think we’re doing a great job and I would like to see it continue.”
El Paso Inc. reports there are six other candidates running to fill current Mayor Oscar Leeser’s spot, including Dee Margo, David Saucedo, Charles Stapler, Willie Cager, Jorge Artalejo and Ana Romero Zaidle.
Mayor Oscar Leeser is not running for re-election.
Election day is May 13, 2017.
