NMAA says Mayfield and Las Cruces must resume canceled game

Las Cruces and Mayfield will have to resume the game canceled Friday night because of a severe thunderstorm warning.

The New Mexico Activities Association said they must play the game. It has informed the district and the coaches.

The game will be played Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Field of Dreams, a 12,500 seat stadium. Friday night’s game was being played at Aggie Memorial Stadium and nearly 20,000 people were expected to attend.

Late Friday night, district officials told ABC-7’s Tom Scott the teams will have to resume where they left off, with about 2 minutes left in the first quarter. The game was a scoreless tie when it was canceled due to the weather.

Earlier Friday, LCPS officials said the game was not going to be rescheduled and no refunds would be issued.
