Moody reelected in Texas State District 78
Incumbent State Rep. Joe Moody handily defeated his Republican challenger, Jeffrey Lane.
Moody received 63% of the vote. Lane received 37% of the vote.
Moody held on to his Texas House District 78 seat, which covers all of west and much of northeast El Paso, including some rural areas in the district. Nearly 170,00 people live within the district, according to the American Community Survey.
This will be Moody’s fourth term in office.
Rep. Moody had no challenger in 2014, and in 2012, beat out Republican candidate Dee Margo with nearly 54 percent of the vote.
For the past three elections before that, District 78 flip-flopped between Moody and Margo.
