Police identify suspects in West El Paso shooting
Police officers conducting an unrelated investigation on the 200 block of Thorn witnessed a fight that quickly escalated into a shooting.
It happened shortly after 3 p.m. Friday November 10, 2016.
Police allegedly witnessed one of the suspects, later identified as 28-year old Dustin Parkison, take out a handgun and fire a round in the direction of another person.
Parkison and 27-year old Thomas Pickett entered a gold-colored Cadillac and fled the area with police investigators following them.
A short vehicle pursuit ended at the 7800 block of Mesa when both offenders abandoned the car and fled on foot, police said.
Police officers caught up to the suspects and took them into custody. The handgun allegedly fired by Parkinson was not recovered until Sunday, police said.
A man who drove by the scene on Friday found the handgun in the bed of his truck. Police believe Parkinson discarded the gun in the truck while he was running away from officers.
Both offenders were booked into the El Paso County Detention facility.
Parkison is charged with Discharge of a Firearm in Certain Municipalities, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Evading Arrest. Parkison also had a warrant for Violation of Parole. His bonds totaled $160,000.
Pickett is charged with Evading Arrest or Detention with a Motor Vehicle, and Evading Arrest. His bonds total $55,000.
