Man shot dead in road-rage confrontation after Houston crash

HOUSTON (AP) – A wee-hours fender-bender on a Houston freeway led to a deadly confrontation that left a man shot dead.

Houston police say the incident happened shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday near downtown Houston on U.S. 59/Southwest Freeway near the Spur 527 split. A woman called 911 to report her husband had just shot a man on the highway.

Investigators learned the couple was in their car when their car was struck from behind by another vehicle. The driver of that car got out and got into an argument with the woman’s husband, then pulled out a knife. The husband, who was still in the couple’s car, grabbed his gun and shot the man dead,

The dead man is identified as 32-year-old Israel Gonzalez. No other identities have been released.
