UPDATE: Man accused of shooting at passing motorists charged with possession of cocaine
The man accused of shooting at the occupants of a car was charged with possession of cocaine after police executed a search warrant at his home.
Officers allegedly found two ounces of cocaine and the handgun believed to have been used in the shooting at a home on the 10400 block of Nolan.
Manuel Salaiz, 38, is charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of cocaine over four grams and under 200 grams.
Shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday, police officers responded to a shots fired call at the 10400 block of Rushing in Northeast El Paso.
Officers met with victims who reported they had been shot at as they were driving by Salaiz’s home on the 10400 block of Nolan.
The vehicle was struck by bullets but none of the occupants were wounded, police said. Witnesses stated the suspect had shot at the vehicle without any provocation, police added.
Police said Salaiz was identified as the shooter. His bonds total $100,000.
