UTEP ends losing streak thanks to Artis buzzer-beater to beat FIU
Everyone knew Dominic Artis would have to come up huge for UTEP to have any shot at snapping its 12-game losing streak Thursday at home against FIU.
Artis did not disappoint.
The UTEP guard buried an off-balance jumper with less than one second to play in double overtime to give the Miners their first win since Nov. 18.
Artis received a inbounds pass near the left wing from Jake Flaggert and then nearly had the ball stolen before recovering and burying the game-winner.
In addition to the winning shot, Artis nearly posted a triple-double. He scored 18 points while grabbing nine rebounds and dishing out ten assists.
Omega Harris led the Miners in scoring with 20 points, while Paul Thomas added 19 points of his own to go along with 11 rebounds and three steals.
The Miners next host FAU at the Don Haskins Center on Saturday, looking for their first winning streak of the season.
