New video shows tree crashing down, crushing cars

New video tonight of the tree that crushed two cars in central El Paso Saturday. The security camera can be seen shaking as the tree is buffeted by the wind.

Once the winds were too strong the tree fell over and crushed two cars. Luckily no one was hurt, and city crews showed up Sunday to clean up.

“They came early in the morning and they cleared the street because it was obstructing the street, and tomorrow they’ll come and to the sidewalk, because it’s obstructing the sidewalk,” said marilu Beard, the homeowner.

The truck’s camper was completely crushed, its windshield broken after the tree fell on top.
The Jeep in front of it did pretty well, escaping with just a cracked windshield.

While the Beards recognize their other trees may pose a potential danger, they don’t plan on removing them any time soon.

“We have thought about removing them, but they are beautiful and they are beautiful, and they’re actually very expensive to take down,” marilu said.

From their point of view it’s not a total loss.

“It’s actually, we got a better view now that we can see the mountains so clear. I don’t think we’re gonna miss the tree that much,” said David beard, her husband.

Marilu Beard told ABC-7 they’re already getting plenty of calls about from neighbors and residents offering to help with the cleanup.
