NMSU holds off Seattle rally for 17th straight win

The New Mexico State Aggies were tested at time in their 71-56 win over Seattle, but were nonetheless able to walk away with their 17th straight win.

NMSU led 31-18 late in the first half and appeared to be on the way to another easy win, but Seattle managed to rally, cutting the deficit to just five with five minutes to go in the game.

However, the Aggies closed the game with a flourish, outscoring the Redhawks by 10 in the final five minutes of action.

Jemerrio Jones posted yet another double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. He left the game with just over a minute to play with what appeared to be a calf cramp.

Ian Baker also notched a double-double, scoring 19 points and adding 11 boards, offsetting a poor 4-17 shooting performance.

The Aggies entered the night tied with Oregon for the second-longest winning streak in the nation. Gonzaga, the nation’s active leader in consecutive wins, won Thursday night to maintain its spot on top.

NMSU will look for its 18th straight win on Saturday at Utah Valley.
