BREAKING: EPPD officer arrested, charged with sexual assault, invasive visual recordings
A four-year veteran with the El Paso Police Department was arrested on a sexual assault charge Friday morning, said officials with EPPD.
After a five-month investigation, Brian Michael Lujan was arrested just after 8 a.m. at an east side residence and charged with one count of sexual assault and two counts of invasive visual recording.
Officials said the cases involve three separate victims in three separate incidents that all occurred while Lujan was on-duty.
Investigators found the incidents happened over an extended amount of time.
The investigation stemmed from a complaint alleging criminal conduct that was filed with EPPD’s Internal Affairs Division.
Officials said two separate investigations were conducted: a Criminal Investigation by the Special Investigations Unit, and an administrative investigation by the Internal Affairs Division.
During the criminal investigation, the Department requested the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation(F.B.I.).
Lujan was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on bonds totaling $325,000.00.
Anybody with information regarding these cases is asked to call the El Paso Police Department’s Internal Affairs Division at (915) 212-0157.
Lujan is on administrative leave, pending the conclusion of the administrative process. The investigations continue.
Just this past Monday, an El Paso Police Detective was arrested, accused of sexual assaulting a teenager.
Detectives with the police department’s Crimes Against Children Unit arrested 46-year-old Juan Carlos Gardea, a 19-year veteran of the police department, and charged him with Sexual Assault of a Child.
Police said the victim reported she had been sexually assaulted by Gardea, a relative, February 4, 2017.
El Paso Police officials told ABC-7 Tuesday Gardea’s mug shot will not be released at this time because it could compromise on-going investigations.
