UTEP Miners aiming for TCHC Championship

The UTEP Miner hockey club is only in its second season and they have already found themselves in the finals of the first ever TCHC playoffs.

UTEP is part of the eight original founding members of the Texas Collegiate Hockey Conference, and dominated throughout the regular season finishing with an 18-2 overall record. It goes without question that record alone made the team TCHC regular season champs.

The Miners earned a first-round bye and then defeated the Texas Tech Red Raiders by a final of 7-1 in the semis on Friday. The Miners jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead in the second period and cruised the rest of the way to a win.

UTEP will play for the championship on Saturday at high noon against Dallas Baptist at the County Coliseum Events Center.
