Two El Paso area men were killed in a crash on Interstate 10 in Culberson County, the Texas Department of Public Safety reports.

It happened Monday afternoon about 12 miles east of Van Horn.

Tuesday, DPS identified the men who died as 21-year-old Juan Madrid, of Fabens; and 38-year-old Christopher Guerra of Clint. A third man, 30-year-old Francisco Hernandez of Tornillo, was injured.

Texas Department of Transportation spokeswoman Jennifer Wright said the men were contracted to do repair work on the highway.

DPS said 24-year-old Muzaffar Ummatov, of Florida, was driving a Volvo tractor trailer hauling a flatbed. Ummatov collided into an unoccupied Ford pickup hauling a trailer, which in turn, collided into a traffic control truck.

The traffic control truck struck the workers by the side of the highway.

Codie Blount said he was on a bus ride to Van Horn when he saw the crash. “DPS flew by us,” said Blount. “We noticed bodies on the ground.
