Police investigating homicide in West El Paso
El Paso Police responded to a homicide in west El Paso on Thursday morning.
ABC-7 confirmed with authorities that one person died at the scene and another person was taken to the hospital.
An El Paso Police spokesman said a fight, shots fired, and a car were reported in connection with the incident. Police have not said if the victim died from gunshots or being hit by a vehicle.
It happened on the 6500 block of Mesa at around 2:30 a.m.
The Palm Court shopping center was completely closed off as authorities investigated the scene as of 8 a.m.
A body covered by a white sheet could be seen in the middle of the parking lot, surrounded by a white truck and a grey vehicle.
The Gang and Crimes and Against Persons Units along with the EPPD Mobile Command Center were called out to the scene.
Officers appeared to question several people at the Royal Wings Sports Bar and Grill, located in the same shopping center.
A woman was visibly distraught while standing in the middle of the parking lot and had to be assisted by officers. At the same time a group of men was detained, questioned by officers and later released.
The investigation is ongoing.
Mesa St. remains open for traffic.
